From Gondola Pitch to Main Stage

At the R26 Summit in Bochum, European PowerTennis took part in one of the more unconventional startup pitch formats, starting inside a Ferris wheel gondola and ending on the main stage.

Oskar Edberg, CEO and Co-Founder of European PowerTennis, represented the company in Business Punk’s startup competition, presenting the concept behind a new sports entertainment format built around tennis.

The first round took place during Business Punk’s “Gondel-Pitch”, where selected founders had only a limited amount of time to explain their business inside a Ferris wheel cabin.

For European PowerTennis, the focus was clear: tennis already has a strong global foundation, but there is still significant room to develop the way the sport is presented, experienced and commercialised.

The concept combines competitive tennis with a faster format, music, entertainment, stronger player personalities and increased audience interaction.

Following the gondola pitch, European PowerTennis advanced to the final alongside Blockbrain and Edgeless Systems.

This time, the pitch moved from the Ferris wheel to the main stage.

In front of the audience and jury, Oskar Edberg once again presented the European PowerTennis vision, and ultimately won the Business Punk Startup Award for the company.

A Sports Format Built Around Attention

For European PowerTennis, the opportunity goes beyond creating another tennis competition.

The ambition is to build a sports entertainment property designed around how modern audiences consume live events.

That means creating a format where the quality of the competition remains central, while entertainment, atmosphere, player personality and audience engagement become a much larger part.

Business Punk highlighted this approach in its coverage of the R26 Summit, describing how European PowerTennis combines sport with entertainment elements and focuses on creating attention and emotion around the match experience.

The recognition at R26 is another indication that this positioning is beginning to resonate outside the traditional tennis environment.
