The Future of Tennis as Sports Entertainment

Tennis is one of the world’s biggest sports, with around one billion fans and more than 100 million players globally.

But the traditional live format does not always match how a new generation consumes sports and entertainment.

Matches can last five or six hours. Tournaments can run for one or two weeks, and premium tickets can cost €600-€700 each. Add travel, hotels and family expenses, and attending a major event can quickly become both expensive and time-consuming.

At the same time, younger audiences are used to faster, shorter and more interactive entertainment. Traditional tennis can also offer limited player personality on court and long pauses between points.

European PowerTennis: Sports Entertainment

European PowerTennis is building an alternative.

An entire competition takes place in one evening, featuring seven matches with professional players, with each match lasting 14 minutes.

The format builds on rule ideas that have been discussed and tested in tennis for decades, including a one-serve rule and 10 seconds between points. These are just two examples of the wider set of rules used in European PowerTennis, all designed to make the game faster-paced, more dynamic and more engaging.

But the biggest difference is the experience.

In European PowerTennis you will see seven professional matches in one night - not one match lasting five hours. But the experience goes beyond tennis. Fans can also watch their favourite artist and DJ perform, turning the entire evening into a major live concert and sports entertainment show.

After the matches, the artist and DJ take over for a full concert and continue the show for the rest of the night.

European PowerTennis is not replacing traditional tennis.

It is creating a new way to experience it.
